Brief facts about lycopene:

Lycopene is an organic compound classified as a tetraterpene and a carotene. Lycopene is a bright red carotenoid hydrocarbon found in tomatoes and other red fruits and vegetables.

Lycopene (data page) - This page provides supplementary chemical data on lycopene.

Lycopane - Lycopane, a 40 carbon alkane isoprenoid, is a widely present biomarker that is often found in anoxic settings. It has been identified in anoxically deposited lacustrine sediments. It has been found in sulfidic and anoxic hypersaline environments.

Nutrition - Nutrition is the biochemical and physiological process by which an organism uses food to support its life. It provides organisms with nutrients, which can be metabolized to create energy and chemical structures. Failure to obtain sufficient nutrients causes malnutrition.

Tocopherol - Tocopherols are a class of organic compounds comprising various methylated phenols, many of which have vitamin E activity.

Tocotrienol - The vitamin E family comprises four tocotrienols and four tocopherols. The critical chemical structural difference between tocotrienols and tocopherols is that tocotrienols have unsaturated isoprenoid side chains with three carbon-carbon double bonds versus saturated side chains for tocopherols.

Tomatine - Tomatine is a glycoalkaloid, found in the stems and leaves of tomato plants, and in the fruits at much lower concentrations. Chemically pure tomatine is a white crystalline solid at standard temperature and pressure. Tomatine is sometimes confused with the glycoalkaloid solanine.
