Brief facts about x509:

In cryptography, X.509 is an International Telecommunication Union standard defining the format of public key certificates. X.509 certificates are used in many Internet protocols, including TLS/SSL, which is the basis for HTTPS, the secure protocol for browsing the web. They are also used in offline applications, like electronic signatures. An X.509 certificate binds an identity to a public key using a digital signature. A certificate contains an identity and a public key, and is either signed by a certificate authority or is self-signed. When a certificate is signed by a trusted certificate authority, or validated by other means, someone holding that certificate can use the public key it contains to establish secure communications with another party, or validate documents digitally signed by the corresponding private key.

Abstract Syntax Notation One - Abstract Syntax Notation One is a standard interface description language for defining data structures that can be serialized and deserialized in a cross-platform way. It is broadly used in telecommunications and computer networking, and especially in cryptography.

Certificate policy - A certificate policy is a document which aims to state what are the different entities of a public key infrastructure, their roles and their duties. This document is published in the PKI perimeter.

Code Access Security - Code Access Security, in the Microsoft.NET framework, is Microsoft's solution to prevent untrusted code from performing privileged actions. When the CLR loads an assembly it will obtain evidence for the assembly and use this to identify the code group that the assembly belongs to.

Communications security - Communications security is the discipline of preventing unauthorized interceptors from accessing telecommunications in an intelligible form, while still delivering content to the intended recipients.

Information security - Information security, sometimes shortened to infosec, is the practice of protecting information by mitigating information risks. It is part of information risk management.

ISO/IEC JTC 1 - ISO/IEC JTC 1, entitled "Information technology", is a joint technical committee of the International Organization for Standardization and the International Electrotechnical Commission.
