Brief facts about regione:
The regions of Italy are the first-level administrative divisions of the Italian Republic, constituting its second NUTS administrative level. There are twenty regions, five of which have higher autonomy than the rest. Under the Constitution of Italy, each region is an autonomous entity with defined powers. With the exception of the Aosta Valley and Friuli-Venezia Giulia, each region is divided into a number of provinces.
Regional council (Italy) - A regional council in Italy is the elected legislative assembly of a region of Italy. In Emilia-Romagna and Sicily, the legislative bodies are called the Legislative Assembly of Emilia-Romagna and the Sicilian Regional Assembly, officially nicknamed as Sicilian Parliament, respectively.
Flags of regions of Italy - The twenty Italian regions each have their own arms, as well as their own gonfalone; more recently they have taken into use normal flags as well. Many regional flags were adopted on 4 November 1995 for National Unity and Armed Forces Day of Italy.
ISO 3166-2:IT - ISO 3166-2:IT is the entry for Italy in ISO 3166-2, part of the ISO 3166 standard published by the International Organization for Standardization, which defines codes for the names of the principal subdivisions of all countries coded in ISO 3166-1.
Provinces of Italy - The provinces of Italy are the second-level administrative divisions of the Italian Republic, on an intermediate level between a municipality and a region. Since 2015, provinces have been classified as "institutional bodies of second level".
Metropolitan cities of Italy - The 14 metropolitan cities of Italy are administrative divisions of Italy, operative since 2015, which are a special type of province.
Municipalities of Italy - A comune is an administrative division of Italy, roughly equivalent to a township or municipality. It is the third-level administrative division of Italy, after regions and provinces. The comune can also have the title of città.
